PORTLAND, OREGON
Activity: Charter Yachting
Date: 9-5-22
My friends Scott Cohn and his brother Charter Captain Henry Cohn invited me for an afternoon of sailing aboard the 38’ Hunter, ‘Kai Angel’ on the Columbia River in Portland, Oregon. My answer to something like ‘Pursuing Balance Through Adventure’ Sailing is always an emphatic yes!
Henry’s business ‘Portland Yachting Adventures’ is Portland’s #1 Sailboat Adventure. This day was a fabulous day to be on the water. It was all blue skies, blue water, with plenty of wind to fill the white sails. ‘Kai Angel’ is a fully outfitted cruising yacht ready for adventure and with over 30 knots of breeze it was adventure we would have indeed. The 38’ Hunter handled the breeze with ease as we put her through her paces.
It was good to be on the Columbia again. I have cruised the area on causal sailboats and I have raced here extensively on Hobie Cat Catamarans back in the day.
Captain Henry was nice enough to offer me a Captain position if I were interested. My first love is the racing speedy small cats, but I am kept pretty busy nowadays racing big boats in Marina Del Rey and they treat me really well. But adventure yachting on the Columbia in beautiful Oregon is certainly tempting.

I would like to extend my appreciation to my friend Scott for hosting PBTA and for the Kayaking Adventure we did in the morning. A big thank you to Charter Captain Henry, your yacht is splendid and our afternoon jaunt in over 30 knots of breeze was so fun!
